How to get to the ICG

This page explains how to get to Portsmouth from nearby airports via the train, and from the train station to the ICG. It also contains directions for those arriving by car.

From London Airports

* From outside your terminal take the RailAir bus to Woking station (ask about the bus stop location and timetable at the Information Desk upon your arrival)
* From Woking, take any train to Portsmouth (the journey is just over one hour)
* Be sure to alight at the Portsmouth & Southsea station (not Portsmouth Harbour)

* From the South Terminal, trains run approximately every 30 minutes and take about 1½ hours
* Beware the trains with 1 change at Havant – these are usually about 10 minutes past the hour. Direct trains run at about 40 minutes past.
* Be sure to alight at the Portsmouth & Southsea station (not Portsmouth Harbour)

(Not easy)

* There are various ways but probably the quickest is to take the Stansted Express train to Liverpool Street
* On the Underground: take the Central Line to Bank station and then the City Line to Waterloo
* At Waterloo Station, take the overground train to Portsmouth - takes about 2-2½ hours in all
* Be sure to alight at the Portsmouth & Southsea station (not Portsmouth Harbour)

From Southampton Airport

* When you exit the terminal building, turn left and walk to the train station (~100 metres)
* Take any train to Southampton Central (these trains usually have terminal destinations of Bournemouth, Weymouth or Poole). Journey time is approximately 7 minutes
* From Southampton Central, take any train to Portsmouth & Southsea (these trains have either Portsmouth & Southsea or Portsmouth Harbour as final destinations) Journey time can vary from 40 to 60 minutes
* Alternatively, the trip from the airport to the ICG is about 30 minutes by taxi

From Portsmouth & Southsea Train Station

* Portsmouth has several train stations. To come directly to ICG and the city center you should get off the train at the Portsmouth & Southsea station
* The ICG is located in the Dennis Sciama Building, which is a 10 minute walk from the Portsmouth & Southsea train station (map)
* We are located on floor 3

By Car

* Take the M275 into Portsmouth (signed 'Portsmouth West') whether approaching from the east (A3(M)/A27) or the west (M27 Junction 12). NB: if approaching from A3(M)/A27 ignore junctions signed to Southsea and Hilsea
* From the end of the M275, follow signs for 'Historic Waterfront/Seafront'. This takes you across three roundabouts to traffic lights at the intersection of Queen Street, Anglesea Road and Edinburgh Road at the top of the University Quarter map
* We are on floor 3 of the Dennis Sciama Building, near Burnaby
