The 2012 ICG/SEPnet Postgraduate Student Outreach Award was awarded to Dominc Galliano, for significant effort in outreach activities at ICG, including his involvement in Think Bigger workshops, BBC Stargazing LIVE 2012, events at the INTECH Science Centre, Spinnaker Tower and activities with the British Science Association.

The prize gave support to Dom to enable him to attend the British Interactive Groups annual BIG Event which was held in York’s National Railway Museum on the 25th-27th July. The three day meeting had avaried programme, including workshops about improving science communication, such as improving audience
participation, dealing with emotions in presentations and what can science communicators learn from theatre.
The meeting also had included a few science shows, including one of thelongest running shows in the country, exploding custard. The BIG event
demo competition was held on the Thursday evening where the country's best science communicators battled it out to win the top prize.
The event was a great chance for Dom to get ideas and also share some of the outreach activities that staff and students have done in the ICG. It was
also a great chance for Dom to network and build contacts with other science communicators across the UK.
