Major success with STFC grant

The Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation (ICG) was just awarded its first "Consolidated Grant" from the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) covering the full range of research undertaken at the ICG. The grant is for a total of £1.72 million pounds over the next 3 years and will help support a range of staff, visitors and postdocs, as well as some of the travel and computing needs.

"Although down on previous years, this grant represents a major achievement for the ICG in these tough times" comments Professor Bob Nichol, who is Principal Investigator (PI) of the grant and Director of the ICG. "This grant will fund research into all aspects of the Universe, from the moment of creation to the complexities of galaxy formation and evolution. We also gain important postdoctoral support to exploit our membership of international experiments like the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and the Dark Energy Survey (DES)". The grant provides core funding for the ICG until April 2016.
